Is your child considering private, parochial, or magnet high schools that require challenging admission tests? With so many different high school entrance exams, it can be difficult to figure out where to begin. MEK’s Total Care Package for High School Admissions prepares 8th grade students for all admission tests, including the HSPT, SSAT, ISEE, Bergen County Academies, Bergen Tech, and Academies @ Englewood exams.
Students interested in applying to high schools throughout the Fall 2018 semester must begin test training over the summer in Exam Prep 8! We offer several test training plans depending on the specific schools in which your child is interested.

Each high school has its own set of admission criteria, including the test it chooses to administer. Most parochial or catholic schools, for example, use the HSPT or SSAT. Meanwhile, the Bergen County Academies and the Academies @ Englewood require their own special tests.

After identifying the test training program that meets the admissions criteria of their chosen high schools, all students must take required assessments with MEK. This process ensures proper course placement and allows our counselors to help each student develop a personalized study plan. Assessments include:
1. Scholastic Reading Inventory Test
2. Pre-Algebra (EPE) Evaluation
3. BCA Simulation Test (with timed essay section)
4. SSAT, ISEE, or HSPT Simulation Test (if applicable)
5. School Report Card Review
All students must schedule academic consultation meetings to review their school lists, go over their assessment results, and map out test training plans!
