With locations in Palisades Park and Closter, NJ, MEK Review is a leading private learning academy with 20 years of experience serving students from early elementary grades to college prep. Unlike businesses focused solely on testing and review, MEK builds strong foundations for students in all subjects to expand skills and fill in gaps left by public and even prestigious private education. We also counsel and advise students during college application and academic competition processes. Our students span a wide range of academic abilities and cultural backgrounds.

Full-time and part-time positions are available for group class, exam prep, and Lab instruction. Applicants must hold a BA or advanced degree related to education or the particular subject area of instruction. Teaching certification is preferred, though not required. Teaching experience is a big plus. Evenings and weekend hours might be required.
English Language Arts:
IMMEDIATE OPENINGS in Writing Lab & Literacy Lab
Writing Lab and Literacy Lab instructors work individually with students ranging from 3rd to 12th grade. Writing sessions focus on a complete writing process, from brainstorming to final revision, across a variety of academic formats, including persuasive, expository, descriptive, narrative, and more remedial tasks. Literacy sessions focus on building a strong active-reading process through literature and non-fiction texts and guiding students to write analytical essays that cite evidence for their claims. Both programs include students with a wide range of abilities and even English Language Learners.
Instructors must be able to grade essays using the NJ State Holistic Scoring Rubrics and use various computer and web applications for student record keeping, grading, and preparation. Instructors will be expected to write and grade evaluation essays during training. They must also teach demonstration sessions prior to the assignment of official job duties.
MEK instructors are dedicated to teaching, always engaged in the learning process, verifying that students are remembering, understanding, and applying concepts taught. They motivate students to complete necessary tasks and constantly assess comprehension by prompting appropriate questions and analyzing responses. Instructors provide an atmosphere that promotes inquiry and encourages students to be open about their strengths and weaknesses.
Applicants should possess or be working towards a degree in mathematics or a related field, must possess excellent communication skills, and be comfortable working with a diverse student population. SAT math teachers must exhibit a thorough understanding of all material within the scope of that test.
Teachers will lead group classes and/or work with students one-on-one. Applicants must be able to teach the necessary operations and rules of mathematics and various problem solving techniques. They will analyze student responses, outline long and short term objectives, coordinate efforts with other teachers, maintain student records in both hard copy and electronic database formats, and motivate and inspire students to develop a passion for math.
Science: Biology, Physics, Chemistry
Applicants should be focusing studies on or hold a degree in a core science. Teaching certification is preferred, though not required. Teaching experience is a big plus.
Science teachers lead classes and/or work individually with students during tutor sessions. Lessons cover materials up to the AP / SAT II level.
English Language Arts / Writing:
Applicants should hold a degree in English, literature, or a related subject and have strong writing and communication skills. Teaching certification is preferred, but not required. Teaching experience is a big plus.
English teachers lead classes in SAT writing and critical reading, middle grades literary analysis, academy preparation, vocabulary and analogies, and/or essay writing. Teachers also work individually with students in a writing lab.
Teachers must be able to grade essays using the NJ State Holistic Scoring Rubric and use various computer and web applications for student record keeping, grading, and preparation. SAT Writing teachers must exhibit a thorough understanding of all material within the scope of that test. Teachers might have to write and/or grade evaluation essays, take evaluation exams, and teach a demonstration lecture. Strong organization, prioritization, communication, and charisma are required.
Full-time and part-time positions are available. Applicants must hold or be working on a 4-year college degree. Excellent communication skills, an aptitude for office administration, and professional comportment required. Evenings and weekend hours might be necessary.
Design & Marketing
Internships and full-time positions are available. Applicants must hold or be working on a 4-year college degree in a related field and have professional experience. Portfolio may be requested. Evenings and weekend hours might be required.
Assistants & Scoring Staff
Internships and part-time positions are available. High school and college students are welcome to apply. Applicants must have a strong work ethic, be extremely detail oriented, and show professional comportment. Evenings and weekend hours might be required.
